The New Cities
The New Cities is a Juno Award and ADISQ Award nominated band originating from Trois-Rivières and currently based in Montreal, Canada. The bands sophomore album, Kill the Lights has been released on September 27th, 2011. The first single called "Heatwave", co-written by the band and The Matrix, has been released on June 16, 2011. It features a melody from the song Tarzan Boy, popularized in 1985 by Baltimora. Following the release of their new album, the band joined Avril Lavigne in Canada to support her 2011 Black Star Tour.
Known for their outrageously energetic live show, the band spent the past two years touring across Canada, the U.K., and France. Their single, “Dead End Countdown,” reached Gold status and had them playing with the likes of Simple Plan, Marianas Trench, Metric, the Black Eyed Peas and Katy Perry. Awards and accolades came pouring in; including a MuchMusic Video Award nomination, a JUNO Award nomination for New Group of the Year, and in songwriting with a SOCAN award.
Melding elements of classic synth-pop to the power of dance and punk, their music has an intensely infectious sound, which has been featured on hit TV shows including Gossip Girl and Degrassi: The Next Generation.
